Sara Traba is a filmmaker based in Galicia.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of Santiago de Compostela, which included periods studying abroad at Università degli studi di Perugia, Universidad de la Habana and the Complutense University of Madrid. Following this, she completed a Diploma in Cinematography, with specialization in Direction and Screenplay Writing, from Film School Bande À Part in Barcelona.

She has attended further training courses, such as Documental y ficción, un acercamiento a la doble naturaleza del cine, taught by acclaimed Spanish film director Víctor Erice.

She serves as coordinator of the Galician-Portuguese film season Mulleres, patrimonios e sociedade.

Sara has worked as director, screenwriter, editor and camerawoman on documentaries, fiction and music projects, among others. Most noteworthy is the direction and writing of the short film As vacas de Wisconsin, screened and awarded at festivals such as Festival Ibérico de cinema, Cortada Vitoria-Gasteiz short Film Festival and Sitges Film Festival.

In the music field, she has created video pieces for the project Ao cabo leirín by Faia Díaz, or music videos for bands like SÉS or INTANA.

Her documentary work explores topics such as heritage, space and identity.

She is now following new career paths in filmmaking.
